Presenting has always been something I've looked into doing. It's always been one of my favourite aspects of Journalism. This placement gave me the opportunity to build my skills and practice all I've already learnt. I gained this placement through my University lecturer, a graduate of his was looking for students to help work on the National Arena Swimming League Finals. As I'm hoping to pursue a career in Sports Journalism I thought I'd take the opportunity to work on a completely new sport. This was also not the usual broadcast of an event. Shockwave Digital are a live streaming company which also gave me an insight into a high intensity live stream.

I was only working with them for 2 days so upon my meeting it was slightly daunting as everyone had been working together for a long time and myself and my colleague Dan were just joining for the weekend. To our luck they were extremely welcoming and encouraged us to give our own input and ideas into the production of the stream. Myself and Dan opened and closed the stream, not giving much screen time but giving us the opportunity to be part of a professional broadcast and giving us the experience we need to learn more. Despite this we were also given the opportunity to interview Olympian Adam Peaty and Commonwealth Champion Alys Thomas. I'm not a massive swimming follower but those are two names that are impressive. As there were two presenters we worked together to script our questions and took it in turns to ask the questions. This was also the case in our scripting for the show itself.

Unfortunately I am unable to find the stream on Youtube but am able to add the link to the stream at the end of this piece:

Since my first introduction to Shockwave I have been given the opportunity to freelance for the company and have also been given the opportunity through shockwave to freelance for the Media organisation Orchard Media. I have been given the opportunity to be camera operator for multiple events including Tafwyl, Feels Like Summer and Glamorgan Cricket T20.
